Embarking on a counselling training course is a significant step. At Matrix, we believe it is essential that applicants have as much information as possible before deciding to apply.
To support this, we offer a three-hour Taster Session designed to give prospective applicants a comprehensive overview of the course and life at Matrix.
During the session, you will have a tour of our venue, including our three large, well-equipped training rooms, seven small counselling rooms (used for skills practice), kitchen area, common room and well-stocked library.
There will be presentations from two senior members of staff covering:
-
Why we believe the integrative model of counselling is so effective
-
Why we place equal importance on theoretical knowledge, clinical skills practice and personal development
-
How and why assessments are structured as they are
-
How to balance training at Matrix with current employment
-
Why many graduates describe their experience at Matrix as “transformational”
-
Post-qualification employment opportunities
You will also hear from a current student, who will share:
-
Their experience of the course
-
How the teaching has prepared them for clinical placement
-
Their experience of working with clients in placement
-
The student support available at Matrix
-
How they manage the assessments
We allow plenty of time for questions, which often include:
-
The application process
-
Support with securing placements
-
Student finance
-
Course structure
-
What a typical two-day teaching unit looks like
-
Clinical hour requirements
-
Learning support available
-
Independent study expectations
-
Developing a career in counselling
We believe in being clear and transparent about our course. If you have any questions, you can book a time to speak with Fiona Paul, Principal.
